This power is one of the most feared and respect of the Dark arcanoi allowing Spectres to communicate with wraith's shadows and to directly infect them with the taint of oblivion.

INNATE

Perceive Contamination (Spectres p 39) This ability allows a spectre to perceive the Dark Light that surrounds a living being that is soon to die and become a spectre. It is not actually necessary for a spectre to see the individual in question, they will still sense the location of that person.

Sense the Shadow (Spectres p39) This ability allows the spectre to gain an idea as to the nature wraiths shadow and to gage its strength. With one success the spectre knows if the wraith is on the verge of surrendering to oblivion (i.e. if the permanent angst is equal to the willpower). The target is only required to answer with a yes or no. The second success will tell the spectre how many temporary angst the wraith has. The third success gives the spectre the number of permanent angst. The fourth tells the spectre the shadow's archetype.

When use on a spectre the results are slightly different. The answer to the first question is always yes. This means that those with equal permanent angst and willpower and those whose permanent angst is greater can not be distinguished by means of this power. The second two questions are unchanged, the fourth will tell the psyche's archetype, and the final one the spectre's nature.

Shadowspeech (Spectres p40) This art allows a spectre to speak directly with a wraith's shadow. If successful the shadow will speak using the wraiths own voice. Each success is one question the shadow must answer or a sentence it can be told.

Dissect (Spectres p40) The spectre can determine a wraiths nature by looking at the reflection it casts in the wraith's shadow.

Transfer Angst (Spectres p40) With this power the spectre can transfer angst to any wraith in line of sight. Each success is one point of angst that may be transferred.

Awake Latent Thorns (Spectres p41) With this power the shadow can cause a thorn to awaken an blossom in a shadow's mind. The effects of the power are permanent but will take time to implant and develop (e.g. about a week for the storytellers to get together and figure out an appropriate thorn). A spectre may not awaken a thorn if it will bring the total number of thorns above a wraiths permanent angst.

Power transform (Doomslayers p61) With this power the spectre is able to reverse the costs for a particular power. If for example an arcanos had cost: 2 pathos and 1 angst, it would now cost: 1 pathos and 2 angst. The effects of this art are permanent. If used on another it requires that the spectre must touch the target to invoke this arcanos.

5th Level

Call the Shadow (Spectres p41) With this much respected power the Spectre is able to force the shadow to the surface. If the challenge is successful the wraith will under go catharsis even if the shadow does not have the necessary amount of angst. Each success is one scene the shadow can remain in control.

Contamination of the Will (Great War p178) This power allows a spectre to bestow temporary shadow experience to another wraith or spectre in order to develop temporary abilities. The points must be spent immediately and last for a scene. At the end of the scene the player must make a simple test to see if they last into the next scene. Each success on the challenge is one xp that the shadow can spend. This power can only be used once per day and can not be used on ones self.

Corruption

This power shares many similarities to Puppetry in that it seeks to take control over the mind of another being and manipulate it. It is a very insidious power creeping in slowly manipulating the mind and spirit of the target until it is more like the spectre's own way of thinking. It starts with the weaknesses of the targets personality derangements fears etc. and magnifies them. Finally it can allow them to seize total control.

Innate

Sense Likeness (Doomslayers p124) This power allows a Spectre to sense out one of the quick that has the potential to be corrupted. It does not detect previous corruption only an individual that can be corrupted.

Soul Leach (Doomslayers p124) Much like Skinriding this power allows a spectre to slip into a person and see through their eyes. They are now able to see the skinlands but lose their ghostly vision.

1st Level

Lurid Visions (Doomslayers p124) This power allows the spectre to give the target a brief vision. Usually no more than a flash this power can have a number of desired uses. First, the vision can often be quite disturbing and can be used to unsettle the target. Second, it can be used to give simple messages but only those that can be conveyed in pictures. Nothing more complicated than "go through the fire escape". Otherwise, the vision is usually just a flash of imagination. This power requires that the spectre be skinriding the target with the use of Soul Leach.

2nd Level

Unbidden Hands (Doomslayers p124) This power allows the spectre to make his victim perform simple actions. These actions can not be suicidal or self destructive. However, spectre's will often push the envelope.

Note: Repeated use of this power is extremely difficult as the target gains the will to resist. On each successive challenge the target gains +1 trait to defend. This bonus is cumulative.

3rd Level

Urges (Doomslayers p125) At this level of control the spectre can force the target to undertake any one action. This action must fulfil one of the spectre's dark passions. The spectre may make an angst check from the fulfillment of this passion. (Note: See passion chart , use middle column)

Fetter Rape (Doomslayers p125) This Art allows a spectre to briefly raise a dead body. If the body was not a fetter or formerly used by a Risen then it must be attuned. To attune a corpse the spectre spends Being in the same way as a wraith would spend willpower. Each success is one day that the spectre is able to hold onto the body before it completely dissolves. During this time the spectre should be treated as a Risen. If the body was a fetter then the wraith whose fetter is was will suffer a harrowing.

5th Level

Blissful Unity (Doomslayer p125) This power allows a Spectre to take complete control over a living being. The victims soul is not destroyed but is completely subverted to the spectre's will. The spectre still uses the victim's attributes and abilities and the victim will act without hesitation to fulfil the spectre's every will. Finally, the effects of this power are permanent.

This power requires two steps to be completed before the consort is usable. The first part is to create the bond. The second is to strengthen it. The spectre requires an accumulated total number of successes equal to the targets willpower. The Spectre just needs to pay the cost again and can then attempt to gain more successes.

Once the bond is created in strengthened the spectre can just slip in and out of the body at a whim. The spectre no longer needs to use soul leech to step inside and take control.

THE HIVE MIND

No single arcanoi is of greater importance in defining the difference between the shadow-eaten and the rest of wraithly society than the existence of the Hive-Mind. Through their unity of purpose, spectres have developed this one art to it's fullest, allowing them the ability to communicate telepathically over great distances. It is this one thing that makes them so difficult to defeat, for Stygia and all the other dark kingdoms cannot hope to defeat an enemy that thinks the same, that knows what they all know, that can access what they all know.

And yet, that very strength is also the weakness of spectres. The Hive-Mind is often predictable, and can easily be fooled by lone operatives and the unexpected. The shadow-eaten are never alone, never have privacy, and never truly are unique. Oblivion wouldn't have it any other way.

Note that many of the powers of Hive-mind require a pack, something striplings usually travel in but few other spectres do. At character creation ST's and players (especially of striplings) may sit down to determine what members comprise a pack. To add members to a pack, each member of the pack must spend a point of temporary being, as must the new member. This is handled the same as attunement. The number of being that must be spent is based upon the following table:

This is the number of being that each member of the pack and the prospective member must spend. The recipient is not a member of the pack until the total being is spent. Only one being is spent per week.

The words Hive-Mind (both words capitalized) refers to the collective unconscious. Hive-mind (only the first word capitalized) refers to the arcanoi.

The difficulty of all Hive-mind arts, when static, is equal to five plus the level ofthe art. Thus innate arts are at difficulty 5, and advanced arts are at difficulty 10.

INNATE

Distress Signal (Spect pg.38) - The spectre can scream out a non-verbal cry of alarm across the Hive-Mind, yelling for help. Each success will (normally) summon one spectral ally to the victimized spectre's aid, via nihil or any other means possible.

LEVEL ONE

Silent Whispers (Spect pg.38) - The spectre can send one telepathic message to any spectre (or wraith in Catharsis) in the spectre's line of sight. The message may only be sent; a response is only possible if the recipient also has Silent Whispers.

Stripling Whispers (Doom. pg.83) - Similar to the powers of Silent Whispers and Distant Whispers, the Stripling may carry on a two-way telepathic communication with other members of her pack. New members may be added to the "pack" by the entire pack attuning the individual, following the normal rules for attunement. Each member in the pack must attune themselves to the newcomer.

LEVEL TWO

Distant Whipsers (Spect pg.38) - Similar to Silent Whispers, the spectre may now initiate a two-way telepathic communication with any spectre or shadow-eaten in his line of sight.

Tribal Commune (Doom. pg.128) - A spectre with thi spower may broadcast not only thoughts, but the experience of his senses as well. Any member of "the pack" may be so included in the communique, and thus expereinces whichever senses the practitioner of this art chooses to send. Note that while experiencing two sets of perceptions a player may be considered down 2 traits to all actions.

LEVEL THREE

Broadcast (Doom. pg.128) - The Specter can broadcast the force of his will across the Hive-Mind, thus shaping the very Labyrinth around him. Each angst trait spent on this art gives the spectre one additional social trait. This social trait functions like any other and can be used against wraiths as well as spectres.

ST Needed: No, although the effects on the surrounding Labyrinth deserve narration.

Hive Awareness (Doom. pg.128) - Spectres can sense when other shadow-eaten are nearby, and use teh Hive-Mind to discover them. With this art, the spectre can add his rating in Hive-mind to any appropriate attributes to discover said wraiths. When in doubt, a mental challenge can be made to notice whether another spectre is nearby or not. This art will not actually detect wraiths in the vicinity, it will only add to the number of traits available to the spectre using another Hive-Mind Arcanos.

Recall the Known (Spect pg.38) - At this level the spectre begins to truly plumb the depths of the Hive-Mind. The spectre can recall things he was told earlier in passing, or bits of information that he knew once but has forgotten. Each success is one bit of information that the spectre recalls.

Taming the Beast (Doom. pg.129) - Some spectres have the remarkable ability to control the feral creatures of the Labyrinth. If successful, the creature is calmed down. A second sucess allows the spectre to control the creature to his bidding. Note that this power does not work on Barghest, but only on the feral shadow-eaten and other dark dwellers of the Labyrinth, such as Vulpines or Kuei.

LEVEL FOUR

Bid (Doom. pg.129) - Via the Hive-Mind the spectre can force one other spectre to obey a single command. The beauty of this art is that, because of the nature ofthe Hive-Mind, the spectre thus controlled will obey both the word and the spirit of the command. Each success is one scene that the target must obey the command. Target's may spend a point of temporary being to resist directly self-destructive acts.

Collective Oracle (Doom. pg.129) - The spectre can plumb the depths of the Hive-Mind for attributes with this art. Each success is one temporary attribute trait that may be added to the spectre's physical, social, or mental traits. These traits last only until the next challenge the spectre gets in. Collective Oracle may not be used again until the effects of the previous use are no longer in effect.

Pack Wisdom (Doom. pg.129) - The spectre using this art can act through a target spectre in his own pack. The target must have activated Tribal Commune, and must consent to the possession (thus the lack of challenge). The spectre using this art uses his abilities, mental and social traits, and the targets physical traits.

Recall the Unknown (Spect pg.38) - With this art the spectre can plumb all but the deepest levels of the Hive-Mind. The spectre can "remember" the location of objects and the answer to riddles that he never knew before. Abilities may also be gained, if only temporarily, with this art. Each success is one round that the spectre can retain the desired ability or piece of information. The art must be used more than once if more than one piece of knowledge is to be gained.

LEVEL FIVE

Compel (Doom. pg.130) - As Bid above, save that all spectres within earshot will follow the commands of the spectre using this art, both the word and the spirit of the command. Like bid, targets may spend a temporary point of being to resist a directly self-destructive act.

Racial Memory (Spect pg.39) - At this greatest of levels, there is virtually nothing that cannot be learned from the Hive-Mind. Even arcanoi and dark arcanoi previously unknown can be plumbed from the depths of the Hive-Mind. Each success is one round that the spectre retains knowledge of the arcanoi, at the end of which he forgets the art.

NOTE the FIRST: The Hive-Mind cannot be used to learn the Risen Arcanoi. In fact, the Hive-Mind cannot be used from the other side of the Shroud.

NOTE the SECOND: Arcanoi may only be learned to a level equal to half your Being rating.

Unity of Being (Doom. pg.130) - Knowledge of this art is punishable by dissolution, for this one art of Hive-mind allows a spectre to stand seperate from all other practitioners of the art. The spectre cuts himself off entirely for a scene from the Hive-Mind, including Bid, Hive Awareness, and even Recall the Unknown.

LARCENY

Larceny (also called Leechcraft) is one of the greatest of the enigmas of the Labyrinth. Every onceborne possesses it, as do almost all aspiring Nephwracks and Apparations. On the other hand, the very art is considered anathema to Spectral nature, a betrayal of Oblivion, and those caught using it are suspect to censure and worse from the superiors. As such, Lraceny is a difficult arcanoi to use. It must be done in secret, and with as little fanfare as possible. It causes agonizing pain to those on whom it is used, so "secrecy" is not always an option with this art. Nevertheless, those who intend to serve Oblivion for any length of time will find that they need this dark arcanoi.

Larceny requires that a pact of sorts be made with the psyche, a reason why so few Shades and Haints develope it. Although it is a cruel art, the psyche benefits from it, and thus the art of Larceny provides one final bitter laugh; to serve Oblivion longer, you risk transcendance or redemption. Most Spectres do not find this amusing.

Players should note that there are a few deviations from the book Dark Reflections: Spectres. These were made for LARP in part due to the lack of ratings that are often in LARP, and in part because the conscept of a "botch" is lost in a LARP setting. The restest for this arcanoi is reflective of its dual nature part scientific with similarities to Usury and part torture. Medecine combines both a sceintific nature and the knoledge of anatomy that torture utilizes.

INNATE

Weigh Oblivion (Spect pg.41) - The Leech can read a target, in a similar way that a Pardoner can Soulsight a target. The Leech can determine how many passions a target has, and in the case of a spectre, which passion fuels the Being. Alternately, the Leech can compare how high someone's Permanent Angst or Permanent Being is in relation to his own.

Note: If used to determine target's Angst or Being, Leech announces his Being first. Target then announces if hers is higher, lower, or the same.

LEVEL ONE

Steal Corpus (Spect pg.41) - The Leech can touch another target and directly steal corpus levels to replenish his own. This cannot be used to raise the Leech's corpus above maximum, nor does it allow the Leech to heal aggrevated wounds. This exchange radiates as a black light that drains from the victim to the Leech. Every second health level taken from the target is added to the Leech.

LEVEL TWO

Emotional Infection (Spect pg.41) - The Leech can give a target a dark passion, thereby helping the target to spread Oblivion and give in to the darker urges. This art can even be used on mortals beyond the shroud (although Shroud Breaking may be necessary for this). The Leech picks the Dark Passion to be implanted; it does not have to be one she possesses. In the case of mortals it will grant a strong desire or compulsion.

Cost: 1 angst

Challenge: Extended Social. The Leech needs three successes to implant a dark passion in a target.

LEVEL THREE

Savor Agony (Spect pg.42) - The Leech can draw upon the suffering of others, quite literally, gaining from the agony of pain she inflicts. Every time the Leech successfully causes an aggrevated wound, she may attempt to gain angst from the event. This arcanos does not require an action and can be attempted multiple times in the same round. The maximum amount of angst that can be gained from a single wound is equal to the number of would levels inflicted by that wound.

Cost: 1 angst if unsuccessful

Challenge: Extended Static Physical. Each success is one point of angst gained.

LEVEL FOUR

Withstand Oblivion (Spect pg.42) - This art allows the Spectre to heal aggrevated damage outside of slumbering in the Labyrinth. Leeches are often loathe to use this power, both for it's cost and because of how much it strengthens the psyche.

Cost: 2 angst, gain one composure. This is per aggrevated wound level healed.

Challenge: None needed.

LEVEL FIVE

Defy Oblivion (Spect pg.42) - With this final power the Leech can survive for years in the srvice of Oblivion, and it is through this that the Onceborn have maintained their exitence. Immediately upon suffering an aggrevated wound, the Leech may attemot to transfer the wound to a nearby (line of sight) target. If successful, the Leech does not take the full effects of the damage, but receives only normal damage instead, while the target also receives an equal amount of normal damage. If unsuccessful, the Leech receives the full amount of aggrevated damage. This can only be used to difuse aggrevated damage.

Maleficence

This arcanoi is the tool of the great spectral priests of darkness. Concerned primarily with turning mortals towards the path of darkness, it allows the spectre to influence their actions and to give them the tools to influence others.

Innate

Sense Prayer (Doomslayers p126) Practitioners of this arcanos have an instinctive feel towards negative energy and emotion. With this power the spectre can actually "hear" calls supplicating dark powers. This power is limited in range to a few hundred meters depending on the strength of the prayers. A success when using this power will tell them the range and direction of the caller.

Sense Investment (Doomslayers p126) With this power a spectre can tell if another has been blessed with "being" from another spectre. Being in this sense refers to the spectral version of willpower. While the purpose of this power is to keep separate practitioners from crossing onto each others territory most spectres don't care.

Black Whispers (Doomslayers p126) This power allows a spectre to communicate directly with the mind of a mortal. The mortal will hear the messages as voices that only he can hear. Each success is a sentence that can be said to the target.

2nd Level

Beneficence (Doomslayers p126) The power of Beneficence allows a spectre to invest being into a mortal towards the eventual goal of granting them spectral powers. Each success is one point of Being that may be invested.

3rd Level

Investiture (Doomslayers p126) Usually used only on the leaders of oblivion cults, this power allows a spectre to initiate a taint of oblivion into the soul of the recipient. This taint opens up in the mortal the potential for supernatural abilities. Each investiture requires an appropriate amount of Being implanted equal to the number of xp the wraith would have to spend. [See Mediums for more details on investments]

4th Level

Discipline (Doomslayers p126) This power allows a spectre to reign in wayward cult leaders. It requires that the spectre have invested being in the mortal. The spectre can cause the mortal to feel extreme pain and agony. For each success scored the mortal is at a one point penalty in all categories. Often times the pain is so bad that it will cause severe injury.

5th Level

Conversion (Doomslayers p127) This power allows the Spectre to impose the full weight of Oblivion's despair onto a target. With it the spectre can do one of two things, either to raise the target's permanent angst by one or to reduce the targets permanent willpower by one. The choice is up to the spectre. Those who's angst reached ten become Doppelgangers and those whose willpower reaches zero become Nothings.

This power is an extended process that requires a captive audience. It requires several hours to employ and can only be used once in a twenty four hour period.

Shroud Rending

Retest: Alertness

This arcanoi found its origins during the great war. As such it is only commonly found among spectres who died during this century. It is designed to allows the spectre to see into the skin lands and eventually to cross over. Unlike embody however the reverse is not true, mortals can not see the spectre using this power. Important note, the shroud is always one level higher for spectres than for wraiths. Unless otherwise stated the difficulty for all shroud rending powers is the shroud.

Note regarding STs and the use of these powers. The vision and sound provied through the use of these abilities is distorted and the information that actually crosses these shroud is full of noise and is often different from what actually happens. The ST is often needed to determine what sound and image actually crosses the shroud.

Innate

Hold Back the Curtain (Spectres p37) This art allows the spectre to extend her activity in the skinlands past the extended duration. Each success is an additional round the spectre can remain on the other side of the shroud.

Threshold (Spectres p 37) This power allows a spectre to view events happening in the skinlands as if in a thick fog. The spectre is unable to interfere in any with those events.

Echoes (Spectres p37) This power allows a spectre to hear the sounds coming from the other side of the shroud. The sound is distorted and muffled with the volume fluctuating up and down. Fleeting Glimpses (Spectres p 37) This art allows a spectre to see what is happening in the corresponding area of the skinlands. For every mental trait spentthe spectre can see one yard around them. Each success is five minutess that the power is in effect.

Nightmare (Doomslayers p128) With this power the spectre is able to induce nightmares in a sleeping mortal. Unlike phantasm, the spectre has no control over the subject matter. The nightmares will cause the mortal to lose sleep putting them at a one trait penalty to all actions until they can gain a good night's rest. This power can only be used once per night but the effect uses on successive nights are cumulative. If the number of traits in any category drop to zero it can be said that the mortal has suffered a nervous breakdown and should be given an appropriate derangement.

Virtuality (Spectres p37)With this power the Spectre can combine the effects of the two powers, of echoes and fleeting glimpses, into one, allowing the spectre to both see and hear events in the skinlands. Each mental trait gives the spectre 1 yard of clear vision and sound. Everything outside the radius is garbled still.

Lurking Presence (Doomslayers p128) With this power the spectre is able to tear into the awareness of a quick tearing a vicious rip in the shroud in the process. The target of this art is no longer affected by the fog. The duration of this power is determined by the number of successes with each success being a round the mortal is unaffected by the fog.

5th Level

Transparent Memories (Spectres p 38) This power can be used in one of two ways. First, it can be used to perceive events in the skinlands with razor edge clarity including both sight and sound. Each success in this manner is five minutes of clear viewing. Second, it can be used to read minds. This will not allow any sort of communication merely to pick up on the thoughts that are uppermost in the mortal's mind. It will also allow the spectre to pick up on the full sensations that the mortal is experiencing including smell taste and touch. This use of the power is extremely addictive to the spectre.

TEMPESTOS

The power of Tempestos is the power to summon teh power of the maelstrom to your aide, giving you strength and power beyond your means. It is different than Tempest-Weaving in a number of ways. ALthough both can be used for travel, Tempestos allows the spectre to actually summon a maelstrom of sorts, while Tempest-Weaving allows the spectre to manipulate the nature of the storm.

It has been said that both Tempestos and Tempest-Weaving are corruptions of Argos, but in the Labyrinth it is whispered that it is in fact the other way around, and that Argos is the corrupted art.

INNATE

Maelstrom Sense (Doom. pg.127) - The Spectre nay ascertain when the next maelstrom is going to hit, and in what direction. This refers not just to the Great Maelstroms, but to the lesser squalls as well. During a maelstrom, this art can be used to determine when the next eruption will take place. Each success is one day of forecast, or other appropriate information (distance or duration).

LEVEL ONE

Storm Seeker (Doom. pg.127) - The Spectre gains a natural affinity for maelstroms, and can instinctively seek them out. The Spectre must be in the tempest to use this art, and he sets himself adrift on the Sea of Shadows. Eventually the Spectre will find himself in the vicinity of a brewing malestrom. It is important to note that the spectre has no control over his destination only that he will end up in the midst of a maelstrom.

Cost: 1 angst

LEVEL TWO

Ride the Nightwind (Doom. pg.127) - With this art the Spectre may take flight on the winds of the maelstrom, using its winds to his advantage. Each success gained on the initial challenge is one scene the character may remain aloft, and one physical trait the spectre has that may only be used for purposes of dodge. While the spectre now has control over his direction there is one limitation, there is no way to stop other than to collide with an unmovable object

Note: Maximum number of successes allowed is 2x the maelstrom level.

LEVEL THREE

Dust Devil (Doom. pg.127) - The Spectre may summon up a minor maelstrom into the shadowlands. This is considered a level one maelstrom, and lasts for a number of scenes equal to the number of successes the Spectre scores. If there is a maelstrom already in effect, the severity of the maelstrom increases by one (maximum of five). The Dust Devil is rather small, and the number of spectres who can use Ride the Nightwind is limited to the number of successes acheived when the Dust Devil was summoned. The duration is one scene per success.

Note: This power can only be used once on a given maelstrom. It can not be used three times in the same area to raise a level two maelstrom to a level five maelstrom.

LEVEL FOUR

Tempest Fury (Doom. pg.127) - The Spectre can summon the maelstrom to do his bidding in a more forceful way, causing the devestating blasts of the tempest to hammer an opponent or target. Each success is a level of aggrevated damage the target takes. Note that if this art is used on another spectre, the damage is not aggravated. Nevertheless, the target spectre still takes one level of damage per success.

LEVEL FIVE

Maelstrom Cauldron (Doom. pg.127) - The Spectre can summon the full force of the storm, raising a maelstrom of incredible proportions. Each success is one level of maelstrom, to a maximum intensity of five. Each success is also one scene that the storm lasts; there is no maximum duration. This art is incredibly draining, and there are stories of spectres literally tearing themselves apart in an effort to summon the storms.

Cost: (1 being, and 1 coprus and 1 angst) per success

Example note: to raise a level five maelstrom out of nothing would require 5 successes cost a total of 5 being, 5 corpus and 5 angst and would last five scenes. If the spectre wanted it to last six scenes it would cost six of each (being, corpus, angst) as well as requireing six successes.

TEMPEST-WEAVING

Tempest-Weaving is the one art that so greatly defines the difference between the shadow-eaten and the rest of the restless dead. By it the spectral denizens of the Labyrinth may control their surroundings, shaping the Labyrinth into whatever they desire. From the winds of the tempest they may seize passing objects of great use, and may ride the winds of the tempest with effortless ease. It is said that it was by the very arts of Tempest-Weaving that the Neverborn created the Labyrinth itself Ex Nihilo, from nothing. The darkest rumors claim that the shadowlands and skinlands are nothing but discarded weavings of the Neverborn, that these creatures in their innumerable years of existence created all reality itself. So few of the Neverborn are awake these days that the answers to such speculation are not forthcoming.

Note that unless stated otherwise, the difficulty on all Tempest-Weaving static challenges is equal to the current maelstrom level x3. If there is no maelstrom, the difficulty is considered one.

INNATE

Eavesdrop (Spect pg.35) - The Spectre can stand at a nihil, either in the tempest or in the shadowlands, and listen in to the surroundings on the other side of the nihil. Note that this requires that the spectre stand very close to the nihil, leaning over it with his ear up against it.

Find Nihil (Spect pg.35) - The Spectre can find the nearest nihil, and can determine some information about it. This art works equally well in the tempest as in the shadowlands. Nihils created via Tempest Threshhold (Argos) might be detected, but would most likely cease to exist quite soon. Each success is one question the Spectre may ask the ST about the nihil.

Hole in the World (W:tGW pg.181) - Once a spectre has located and recognized a nihil via Find Nihil, she may open or shut the nihil. The nihil can then be navigated via the level one art Wormhole.

Navigate (Spect pg.35) - Similar to the Argos art Orienteering, Spectres may use Navigate to find their way through the tempest to whatever destination they so choose. Each success on the challenge is one bit of information they may ascertain about their surroundings.

LEVEL ONE

Storm Lash (W:tGW pg.181) - The Spectre can invigorate himself in the destructive winds of the tempest, drawing unholy strength through the power of Oblivion. Each success is one round the spectre may stand in the tempest to gain energy from the storm, gaining one angst or one level of corpus per round. Alternately two rounds (two successes) will restore a lost point of being. With enough successes, any combination of being, angst, or corpus may be restored. Note that aggrevated damage may not be healed through this art. The Spectre must remain in the storm for a full round (roughly six seconds) per success.

Cost: 1 angst (which may be regained through use of this art).

Wormhole (Spect pg.35) - The Hierarchy fears nihils, and for good reason. Any spectre with this art may open up an existing nihil, no matter how small, and pass through to the other side. Unlike Tempest Threshold (Argos), the Spectre must make use of an existing nihil, although he may stretch even the smallest nihil out for use.

Cost: Nothing

LEVEL TWO

Ride the Soul-Storm (Spect pg.35) - The Spectre may launch himself on the winds of the tempest (or maelstrom), letting the unearthly storm carry him to its destination. He has no control over his destination, although he may "get off" at any point he chooses.

Cost: 1 angst per scene

Challenge: Static Physical to initiate. No challenge needed to maintain or to discontinue.

Thread of Corruption (W:tGW pg.181) - Spectres with this art may infuse a relic with the dark energy of Oblivion. This can only be used on relics, not artifacts. Thereafter, the relic draws a point of pathos from any wraith that picks it up or uses it; this does not apply to spectres or wraiths in catharsis. The object can also be tracked by spectres with this art.

Cost: None

Challenge: Extended Static Mental to infuse the relic, one success needed per level of the relic. Static Mental to track it.

LEVEL THREE

Grasp the Passing (Spect pg.36) - With this art the spectre may reach into the tempest and grasp the first thing that floats by. Rarely useful, often entertaining, but always trivial, the item is often a discarded relic or memory. If this art is successful the spectre then initiates a simple challenge, on a loss he aquires something completely useless like a piece of rusted metal or fragment of cloth, a tie grants the spectre something possible useless like a cloak or strong stick, while on a win he would get something moderately useful like a mask or a discarded pathos crystal with a couple of charges still in it. On no account will this art come up with anything more useful than a level 1 relic.

Unweave the Self (W:tGW pg.181) - The Spectre can literally tear himself apart, become nothing more than debris floating on the winds of the tempest. Each success is one scene that the spectre may maintain this form before he knits himself back together. The maelstrom will blow the spectre wherever it will. This art cannot necesarrily be used for fair escape, because it takes one round per level of corpus to unweave and reweave his corpus.

LEVEL FOUR

Favored Flotsam (Spect pg.36) - At this level the Spectre can retrieve a valuable or useful object from the tempest, relevant often to the situation at hand. The Spectre merely need concentrate, and may reach out for a desired object. Even if the Spectre does not know what he wants, he may still grasp something of value. Most scholars claim that this is the subconscious mind of the Spectre imposing its will on the tempest, although a few of the less credited scholars claim that the Tempest itself possesses a form of inteligence, and grants its children what it feels they need most. Some Spectres through their most valuable items to the tempest for safe keeping, retreiving them via this art. The cost of the art must be paid to "store" such an item.

LEVEL FIVE

Carve the Chaos (Spect pg 37) - The greatest of the arts of Tempest-Weaving, this legendry art allows the Spectre to carve the very stuff of the Tempest, imposing his will therein and crafting the scene to his whim. This is the art that is most often used to set the scene for a Harrowing. Obviously those who know this art are in the greatest demand, as they are the master craftsmen who direct and create the harrowings. Those spectres with this art are afforded much respect in the political arena of the Labyrinth. Once this art is activated, the Spectre can craft an entire scene, props and all.
